Armenia Signals Willingness to Resume Gas Purchases from Azerbaijan
On the margins of the Silk Road International Forum in Tbilisi on October 26, Armenian Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan stated that Armenia is ready to buy gas from Azerbaijan after settling political differences between the countries.
"The cessation of gas and electricity supply from Azerbaijan to Armenia due to the conflict was a shocking event for Armenia's gas and electricity system. Because at that time, we were buying gas from Azerbaijan, and then we started the construction of a new gas pipeline through Georgia to supply gas to our country. I hope that there will be peace in our region, and we will be able to cooperate and diversify our energy systems like in those times," Vardanyan added.
