
Armenian FM Mirzoyan Set to Visit Russia Amid Growing Bilateral Tensions

On January 14, Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, announced that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had been invited to Russia and may visit soon, with the trip planned over two months ago, according to Ani Badalyan, the Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
During a press conference, Lavrov confirmed the invitation, stating, "Ararat Mirzoyan has been invited to the Russian Federation, he accepted the invitation. We are waiting for him. I hope that the visit will take place soon."
He described Russian-Armenian relations as uneasy and commented on Armenia's aspiration to join the European Union, emphasizing that such a decision is Yerevan's sovereign choice while urging the Armenian authorities to weigh the pros and cons carefully.
