Azerbaijan Bans Russian MP for Offensive Remarks Against Baku
On February 10, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemned the offensive and threatening remarks made by Nikolai Valuev, First Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Russian State Duma, regarding Azerbaijan and its people, stating that such statements were completely unacceptable.
Due to his remarks, Valuev has been added to the list of persons prohibited from entering Azerbaijan. The ministry emphasized that this is not the first instance of Russian State Duma deputies being declared "undesirable persons" in Azerbaijan. Previously, Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Work with the CIS, and Vitaly Milonov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Family Protection, were also included in the list for actions against Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministry expressed regret that all these deputies belong to Russia’s ruling "United Russia" party and stated that Azerbaijan would take appropriate measures against individuals acting against the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and people in accordance with its legislation.
