Azerbaijan International Mining Signs $5 million Prepayment Agreement with Trafigura

On June 13, Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited (AIMC), a subsidiary of British gold miner Anglo-Asian Mining (AAM), signed an agreement with Trafigura Pte, a Singaporean multinational trading company, for the sale of its copper concentrate.
AAM announced in a statement that AIMC and Trafigura have entered into an advance payment agreement in connection with the sale.
According to the company, "AIMC and Trafigura have signed a prepayment agreement in connection with the sale of copper concentrate. Under the terms of the agreement, Trafigura will make prepayments totaling $5 million to AIMC for the purchase of the concentrate. AIMC will receive $3 million immediately and $2 million upon re-commissioning of the flotation plant. These advances will be repaid upon delivery of copper concentrate to Trafigura.
The statement added: "The agreement also grants Trafigura the exclusive right to purchase 50% of the output to be produced in the first year of production from the Demirli copper-molybdenum mine in the Karabakh region." The agreement is valid until December 31, 2024 and AIMC expects to deliver sufficient concentrate to Trafigura by that date to repay the advance payments.
