
Azerbaijan Starts Transporting Natural Gas to Romania

On January 1, Azerbaijan started transporting natural gas to Romania. According to the agreement on the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Romania, 300 million cubic meters of gas will be transferred to this country by April 1.
Natural gas will be transported through the Greece-Bulgaria Gas Interconnector (IGB) from the Greece-Komotini exit point of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the European branch of the Southern Gas Corridor.
Earlier on December 17, Caucasus Watch reported that an "Agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and transmission of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary" was signed in Bucharest. According to the official website of the President of Romania, the agreement envisages the strengthening of national and regional energy security and relations in the Black Sea basin, the diversification of supply sources, the use of renewable energy production potential in the Caspian region, and meets the interests of the four states.
