On April 16, Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Terhi Hakala, the European Union's Special Representative for Central Asia.

During the meeting, the discussions revolved around the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-European Union relations, focusing on Azerbaijan's role in Central Asian-European Union relations. Both parties exchanged views on cooperation within various international platforms and formats.

The main topic of discussion centered on the agreements established between Azerbaijan and the EU in the realms of energy security, telecommunications, and transportation, as well as their implications for relations with Central Asia. Of particular importance was the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership in the field of energy, highlighting joint efforts in energy security and the development of alternative energy resources.

Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity to inform the EU representative about Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, particularly in the Baku Port and in the development of transportation and communications.

Furthermore, discussions encompassed other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and fostering mutual understanding.
