On May 16, new footage from Tirana appeared on social media, showing Pashinyan inviting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for coffee, to which Aliyev replied, “I’ll be right there; I have a conversation.” After several minutes, they held a bilateral meeting, which was later joined by other Azerbaijani and Armenian officials.
On the same day, the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that a meeting between Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, took place within the framework of the summit.
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the significance of reaching an agreement on the text of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Agreement and discussed the current situation, underlining the importance of maintaining momentum toward the signing of the agreement.
This meeting follows Pashinyan’s comments on May 15, as reported in a Caucasus Watch article, where he reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to sign the peace treaty and dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group simultaneously, addressing Azerbaijan’s concerns about constitutional barriers to peace.
