On October 20, at an extraordinary meeting, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the Collective Security Council (CSC) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) would consider joint measures to assist Armenia.

"Currently, the issue of holding an extraordinary session of the CSC CSTO shortly is being worked out. It is expected that during the upcoming meeting, the leaders of the member states will discuss the results of the work of the CSTO mission in Armenia via videoconference and should consider proposals for joint measures to assist Yerevan," the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.

Earlier, on October 18, Caucasus Watch reported that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) missions might be deployed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. "The issue of sending an OSCE mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is being discussed. We will have specifics on this issue shortly," Mirzoyan said during a press conference with his Norwegian counterpart Anniken Huitfeldt in Yerevan. He added, "As for the CSTO mission, a report based on the findings of a fact-finding mission that visited Armenia has been prepared and sent to all CSTO member countries."
