Flights between Azerbaijan and Russia suspended

From March 6, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) suspended flights to Azerbaijan indefinitely on the recommendation of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency due to risks arising during international flights. "The situation is also related to the recent changes in the international aviation insurance and reinsurance market due to the sanctions imposed. These changes have also affected the activities of Azerbaijan's national carrier. In the current situation, AZAL and insurance companies must analyse the situation in detail, assess all the negative and positive effects, and investigate all possible changes in their policies," the statement said.
Azerbaijan Airlines states that the lack of full insurance coverage on international flights creates unreasonable risks for citizens, airlines and other legal entities.
Due to the above, “Azerbaijan Airlines and Buta Airways will suspend all flights to the cities of the Russian Federation from 08:00 on March 6. Passengers of cancelled flights have the right to change the flight date or get their tickets back without penalty,” AZAL said.
