Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed cautious optimism about the peace process with Azerbaijan, stating, “I think there is a real chance to establish peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future, to sign the agreement and reach common ground.”

Speaking to reporters, he confirmed that Armenia is doing everything within its power to ensure a peaceful outcome.

Addressing Azerbaijani troop presence on Armenian territory, Mirzoyan said, “Certainly, there are sovereign territories of Armenia now under Azerbaijani control—around 208 square kilometers. We have repeatedly said their return should happen through the delimitation process.”

He denied claims that delimitation talks are stalled, noting that commission heads continue to meet and explore progress.

On prisoners of war, Mirzoyan admitted the issue lacks progress. “It’s one of the few issues where constructive dialogue is absent,” he said, expressing hope that peace could open the door to resolving humanitarian concerns.

Regarding Azerbaijan’s “Western Azerbaijan” narrative, he said it is perceived by Yerevan as a direct threat to Armenia’s territorial integrity. He also confirmed there are no formal negotiations regarding any return of Azerbaijanis.
