On February 11, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, accused the Swedish government of funding radical organisations in Georgia, including Transparency International - Georgia. 
He claimed that Erik Ottosson, Chairman of the Swedish Parliament's European Affairs Committee, openly called for a 'Maidan' and radicalisation, adding that his views were not challenged in Sweden.
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili also claimed that the Maidan scenario for Georgia was not only being discussed but actively prepared. She criticised what she described as strong foreign interference in Georgia's domestic politics, referring to a statement by the Bureau of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, which urged the Georgian government to allow a rerun of the national elections and to postpone the local elections.
Bochorishvili argued that the Council of Europe was presenting the opposition as representative of the entire Georgian nation, while at the same time acknowledging that the opposition was not ready to participate in elections and needed time to mobilise its supporters. She also condemned statements by foreign politicians, claiming that the Swedish politician's remarks reflected external desires for chaos, destabilisation and scenarios aimed at undermining Georgia's constitutional order.
