Irakli Garibashvili Hopes for Germany's Support in EU Candidacy and Talks About Bilateral Relations
In his address at the reception held on the occasion of the German Unity Day on October 3, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said he was confident the European Union would recognize Georgia’s advancements and geopolitical importance and would make another historic decision by granting the country its candidate membership status.
"We hope that the noticeable progress on the Euro integration path will be acknowledged accordingly," the Head of the Government said. The Georgian Prime Minister stressed Germany's unwavering support for Georgia's European aspirations and European choice - reflecting the resolute will of Georgian people - was deeply appreciated, adding that the decision to grant Georgia the candidate status would firmly connect the country with Germany and the EU.
Moreover, Garibashvili highlighted the reliable and mutually beneficial, centuries-old friendship with Germany in his address at the reception held on the occasion of the German Unity Day. "Today, more than ever, the role of the Federal Republic of Germany is crucial for bringing peace and stability to our continent," he stressed. The Head of the Government said the centuries-old friendship and multi-dimensional cooperation with Germany, based on shared values, have grown even closer and reached unprecedented dynamics recently.
