On February 24, Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, announced Tbilisi’s intention to reset relations with the United States and the European Union and to start diplomatic engagement from a clean slate.

Kaladze described the past three years as "very difficult" but said that Georgian society now fully understands the challenges facing the country. He emphasized that despite external pressures—including "direct threats and blackmail" regarding opening a second front against Russia—his government had remained firm in protecting Georgia’s national interests and preventing the country from being used for foreign agendas.

He highlighted that the Georgian Dream government had consistently acted with principle, exposing forces that, in his view, work against the state through local agents. "The people understood everything, supported us, and together we were able to prevent a massive disaster for the country," Kaladze stated.

Kaladze expressed optimism that overcoming what he called the "diplomatic state" would lead to a reset in relations with the West, ultimately benefiting Georgia. He referenced statements made by U.S. President Joe Biden regarding the defeat of the "diplomatic state" and voiced hope that this shift would translate into concrete steps for Georgia.

"We want this to be reflected in Georgia not just through statements but also through real actions," he said, stressing the country’s desire to establish "even strategic relations with a clean slate."
