Kazakhstan And Azerbaijan Move Forward On TITR Cooperation And Development
On March 10, the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport noted that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan announced plans to sign an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The ministry stated that the text of the agreement has already been finalized, and its signing is intended to strengthen the institutional framework of the TITR.
The ministry emphasized Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a central link in the corridor, facilitating cargo transit across the Caspian Sea and onward to Türkiye and European markets. It was also noted that, as part of efforts to expand the merchant fleet supporting the route, an order has been placed at the Baku Shipyard for the construction of two container vessels, which are expected to be completed by 2027. In addition, six multi-purpose dry cargo ships are scheduled to be delivered during the same period to operate along the Caspian corridor.
The ministry added that countries participating in the project will continue coordinated efforts to increase the corridor’s throughput capacity and make the TITR more attractive for international freight operators.
