Kremlin Spokesperson Calls for Respecting Security Needs Over Niqab Traditions

On July 24, during the Festival of New Media in Senezh, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that security interests take precedence over wearing niqabs, urging respect for security demands.
"We live in a time when situations arise related to the need for security. And, of course, in those situations, people with their faces covered contradict the challenges that law enforcement faces. I believe that when such a situation arises and when security interests dictate such a necessity, everyone, including Muslims, should treat it with full respect," Peskov said.
He also emphasized the importance of mutual respect for traditions, noting that Russia should respect Muslim traditions, but Muslims should also respect the traditions of women of other faiths who come to their regions. According to Peskov, this mutual respect is not always observed.
