Marriage Legislation Updated in Adygea: 14-Year-Olds Granted Permission to Marry
In Adygea, 14-year-olds were allowed to marry. Changes to the law regulating marriage issues of persons under 16 were adopted by the State Council - Khase of the Republic of Adygea MPs.
The law allows marriage from the age of 14 under special circumstances, including pregnancy for 12 weeks or more and the birth of a common child registered in the territory of Adygea.
In addition, the law spells out the conditions under which minors are allowed to marry - the age of 14 to 16 years, permanent residence on the territory of the republic for at least five years, mutual voluntary consent of minors, and consent of the parents of minors.
