Moldova Considers Banning Armenian Airlines in New Aviation Law

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova proposed a draft law that includes a list of airlines whose operations may be banned in the country, NewsMaker reports. Airlines from several countries, including Armenia, are featured on the list.
The draft law, titled “On approval of the list of air carriers subject to the prohibition of operation in the territory of Moldova,” was submitted for public debate until January 9. The initiative aims to align Moldovan national aviation regulations with European Union standards.
Among the carriers potentially affected is FlyOne Armenia, a subsidiary of the Moldovan airline FlyOne. According to the draft, airlines on the list may still operate flights to and from Moldova if they use leased aircraft from non-restricted carriers and adhere to established safety standards.
The list also includes airlines from Russia, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tanzania, Congo, Iran, Libya, and Sudan.
