Nagorno-Karabakh: Azerbaijani MOD reports fighting

On 28 December, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MOD) reported that an Azerbaijani soldier was killed and another injured in an attack by an Armenian armed group in Khojavend region, as a result of a clash that occurred a day prior.
It was also highlighted by the Azerbaijani MOD that all six members of the Armenian group who were involved in the clash were killed. “If such a case repeats, the Azerbaijani Army will take decisive measures,” the MOD added. The de facto MOD of Nagorno-Karabakh stated in response that the village of Tog (Tug) is under the full control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and not a single emergency has been recorded there from the Armenian side. “The Armenian side is trying to get additional information, not excluding the possibility that we are dealing with an Azerbaijani information provocation,” the statement of the Armenian MOD emphasised.
It was also reported that another prisoner exchange took place between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Four Armenian POW’s returned to their country of origin in exchange for two Azerbaijani POW’s.
