On May 4, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu postponed his planned visit to Azerbaijan, originally scheduled for May 7–11, due to escalating security and political developments along Israel’s borders.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced that “in light of developments in the Gaza Strip and Syria, and due to a demanding political and security schedule, Prime Minister Netanyahu has decided to postpone his visit to Azerbaijan to a later date.” The statement extended gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for his invitation and reaffirmed the close relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, some Israeli media outlets reported that a key factor in the decision was Turkey’s alleged refusal to authorize overflight for Netanyahu’s official aircraft, the “Wing of Zion.” Although alternative routes through Greece and Bulgaria were considered, they were reportedly dismissed due to significantly extended flight durations.
