Pashinyan: “Yerevan is waiting for Baku's answer by rail to Nakhchivan”
Yerevan is ready to sign an agreement with Baku on the railway from Azerbaijan to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Armenia, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced while speaking in parliament.
“We have submitted proposals to Azerbaijan, Russia, and international partners. And with a positive response, Baku is ready to implement work on the restoration and construction of roads,” Pashinyan said.
He added that the Armenian side is interested in concluding a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. According to him, this is also necessary for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Recall that the Yeraskh-Horadiz railway in Soviet times connected the Azerbaijan SSR and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. In the 1990s, after the start of the Karabakh conflict, traffic on the road stopped. The road has fallen into disrepair and to restore traffic, it is necessary to repave 45 km of the road.
