Russia Calls for Bilateral Talks Between Armenia and Azerbaijan Over Cultural Sites
On April 25, during a briefing, Maria Zakharova, the Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, addressed a question from an Armenian journalist regarding the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Karabakh.
She affirmed the ongoing relevance of the tripartite agreements signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, pointing out that no party has officially renounced the November 9, 2020, agreement.
Additionally, Zakharova responded to inquiries about the reported damage to Armenian cultural monuments in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. She highlighted the frequent reciprocal allegations between Armenia and Azerbaijan concerning the destruction of cultural and historical sites, as well as religious landmarks.
"We urge Baku and Yerevan to discuss this matter through bilateral negotiations. Russia is prepared to offer any necessary support regarding this issue," she stated.
