The Russian Defence Ministry said that a civilian was wounded and killed in Karabakh because of Azerbaijani fire on October 9.

"On October 9, a civilian resident of Madagiz (Sugovushan in Azerbaijani) village was fatally wounded by Azerbaijani fire during agricultural work near the line of contact in the Mardakert (Aghdara in Azerbaijani) region. The command of the Russian contingent is investigating the incident with the participation of representatives of both sides” statement said.

The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry had previously disputed Armenian accusations that it had fired in the direction of Aghdara (Mardakert).

"The information spread in the Armenian media about the death of a tractor driver as a result of alleged firing by Azerbaijani Army units in the direction of Aghdara and the wounding of an Armenian serviceman in the direction of Arazdayan is false and does not reflect the truth," the ministry said on October 9.

According to the Armenian media, a resident was killed in the direction of Aghdara in the Karabakh region.

At that time, the Armenian Defence Ministry also said that a serviceman was wounded because of the Azerbaijani fire on the Nakhchivan part of the border.

Both sides accuse one other of breaking the ceasefire agreement.

The Second Karabakh War, which began on September 27 last year and lasted 44 days, came to an end on November 10 with a statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia.

According to the statement, Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Karabakh to monitor the ceasefire.
