On January 9, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, commented on Armenia’s shifting foreign policy, suggesting that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan might soon recall Armenia’s membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Medvedev also addressed Armenia's intention to engage with the European Union, stating that Russia could directly appeal to the EU, which, according to him, tends to offer financial and military aid to countries aspiring to join the EU. 

He referenced the EU's experience with Ukraine as a precedent for this kind of support.
