US President Donald Trump, addressing the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s assessment of the breakthrough in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process. Trump quoted Aliyev as describing the progress achieved within six months as a “miracle.” “The President of Azerbaijan said, ‘President Trump, in six months, did a miracle. It was an absolute miracle that nobody thought could be done,’” Trump noted.

Trump included the Azerbaijan-Armenia settlement among the conflicts he said had been resolved during his presidency. He also cited Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who has previously attributed the agreement to Trump’s personal commitment to the peace process.

Trump listed the Azerbaijan-Armenia settlement alongside agreements involving Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, and Pakistan and India.
