On June 5, Robin Dunnigan, the US Ambassador to Georgia, announced her retirement, describing it as a "personal decision" and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Tbilisi.

In her statement, Dunnigan emphasized that after 33 years of representing the United States as a diplomat, she has chosen to retire, clarifying that her decision was not prompted by a request from her government to return. She described her tenure as the US Ambassador to Georgia as "the greatest honor and privilege" of her career and expressed pride in the accomplishments of the US government team, both in Washington and at the US Embassy in Tbilisi, in strengthening ties between the two nations.

Dunnigan expressed deep appreciation for the Georgian people’s "incredible generosity and warmth," noting that she and her family experienced "unparalleled Georgian hospitality" throughout their stay. She underscored her steadfast confidence in the shared values between Americans and Georgians, stating, "I am more certain today than ever that the core values uniting Americans and Georgians will ensure our special partnership and friendship endures."

The ambassador concluded by reaffirming her commitment to supporting bilateral relations until her departure in July.
